EXMURO PUBLIC SPACE EXHIBITION

ORDINARY WONDERS

From June 6 to October 25, 2026, EXMURO presents Ordinary Wonders, a program of contemporary art exhibitions at Québec City’s public space. Bringing together artists Ève Cadieux, Dgino Cantin, and Marc-Antoine K. Phaneuf, this season explores our relationship with everyday objects through immersive installations, photographic works, and visual storytelling. A new edition of the Museum of Bad Art is also part of the program, offering a unique reflection on the value, taste, and memory associated with the objects that surround us.

Through practices of collecting, assembling, and transformation, the artists take over the public space with works that reveal the hidden poetry of the ordinary. The exhibitions explore themes such as memory, archives, wonder, popular culture, and used objects. Whether precious, obsolete, or familiar, these objects become sensitive witnesses to our lives, telling both intimate and collective stories.

OUTDOOR EXHIBITION

FIRST KISS AT DUSK

A master of illusion, artist Alex Chinneck transforms urban elements that are too often taken for granted in our experience of the city. Here, two intertwined streetlights seem to defy the laws of physics as they lean in for a kiss. Personified in this way, these improbably knotted lampposts bring a touch of poetry and tenderness to Montmorency Park. Reflecting the warmth of Old Québec, this luminous artwork stands as a visual signature of the historic district and its romantic streets.

CEMENT ECLIPSES

Isaac Cordal creates urban eclipses by placing small figures in unexpected corners of the city. As you walk through the streets, you may spot them at ground level, nestled in the cavities of façades or perched atop building cornices. These miniature figures, depicting businessmen and tourists, adopt postures and expressions that convey a sense of awareness.
